Dallas police are investigating the latest in a string of smash'n'grab robberies – this time in a more high-profile location.

Thieves early yesterday morning drove a vehicle through the front door of the Cork and Bottle liquor store at Mockingbird Lane and Greenville Avenue on the northern edge of the M Streets neighborhood. They fled with the store's ATM.

Since the start of the year in Dallas, there have been at least eight smash 'n' grabs in which thieves stole ATMs. Last year, thieves stole or tried to steal ATMs at least 77 times.

Most of the ATM thieves make a clean getaway, although three suspects were captured Jan. 22 after an officer spotted a stolen van dragging an ATM through a Pleasant Grove parking lot. The ATM contained about $24,000.
