Busta Rhymes at Gypsy Tea Room
Woo hah! Check out one of rap's most entertaining stars, the
always-energetic Busta (right), along with "hip-hop violinist" Miri
Ben-Ari (see interview on Page 14). Saturday at Gypsy Tea Room's

Out Takes Dallas: Lesbian & Gay Film Festival
The seventh-annual fest promises "something for everyone" with 71 films
(29th and Gay, above) screened during a 10-day stint. Organizers say the
"must-see" event is a special screening of Valley of the Dolls, followed
by a presentation by Advocate arts and entertainment editor Alonso
Duralde, author of 101 Must-See Movies for Gay Men. The festival runs
tomorrow through Nov. 13. All screenings are at the Magnolia Theater in
the West Village. For a complete schedule and ticket information, go to
www.outtakesdallas.org.
Three clues into the rise of Death Cab: The Washington State band (left)
managed an eye-opening No. 4 debut on the Billboard album charts with
Plans in September. And starred at the Austin City Limits Festival that
same month. And this show is sold out (sorry). Tomorrow at the Ridglea
Theater, 6025 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth. Doors at 8 p.m. Front Gate
Tickets.
Sean Astin (above) will be at this massive comic book convention,
presumably to answer trivial questions about the Lord of the Rings
trilogy. But you can ask him trivial questions about Rudy and The
Goonies as well. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday and 11 a.m. to
5 p.m. Sunday at the Arlington Convention Center, 1200 Ballpark Way.
Full schedule and tickets ($25 for one day, $45 for all three) available
at www.wizarduniverse.com.
Joan Jett at Chevy's Speed Stampede
It's been 23 years since "I Love Rock N' Roll." But Joan still rocks,
especially on "Bad Reputation." See for yourself at this festival, also
starring country's Trace Adkins, Saturday at 8:30 p.m. The fest also
includes Willie Nelson and Lee Ann Womack tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. Main
Street in downtown Dallas. Free. www.speedstampede.org.
