Power customers are likely to receive a one-time credit of $12.58 from their retail electric providers thanks to Oncor, the transmission company of Dallas-based Energy Future Holdings Corp.
Energy Future Holdings was created when the old TXU was taken private in 2007, and as part of that transaction Oncor agreed to refund money to customers.
The refund exceeds $72 million, and all customers in Oncor’s service area back in December will receive the refund on their September bills; customers who have switched electric providers during that time will still get the refund if they’re getting power from Oncor through a different electric provider today.
Oncor is sending the money to retail electric providers along its system and they have all agreed to send the money directly to consumers.
