An Arlington 17-year-old died Saturday morning after another 17-year-old allegedly shot him, according to Arlington police.
Detectives sought a warrant for criminally negligent homicide Saturday but did not release the suspect's name.
The Tarrant County medical examiner identified the victim as Francisco Martinez. The report said the shooting occurred about 3:15 a.m. in the 2600 block of Clayborn Court, near Collins Street and Arkansas Lane in north Arlington.
"This wasn't supposed to happen," Arlington police Lt. Blake Miller said. "There wasn't any malice."
