Women don't just go to Lift Lounge – they've taken the place over.
They crowd the Uptown club's dance floor, thrust their drinks in the air, yell along with the music at the top of their lungs: "Shook me aaaall niiight looong!"
No surprise, women get in free here. Men pay $20, if the bouncers don't know them. And men have to be at least 26.
Anyone can buy a $2,500 VIP membership, which includes such amenities as free valet and 20 percent off bottle service.
When we arrived last Saturday around 11 p.m., the valet called us "sweetie," and a chipper hostess called out, "Hi! Welcome!" An elevator whisked us to the second floor, where Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love" boomed.
Much of Lift's space is reserved for bottle service. The set-up looks nice – flickering votives, plump pillows – but when none of the tables are occupied, the place looks a bit empty.
The dance floor, on the other hand, is always full. Women in clingy dresses and a bachelorette in a veil shook their rumps to a stream of hip-hop and '80s hits. The handful of men in the room watched admiringly. (Only a few dared to join them.)
It was very gender-empowering, until two drunk women decided we were in their seats. The couch we sat in was open to everyone.
"That is so cheap of you!" they said.
Too many women and too much alcohol, and you occasionally get drama.
