1 FEEL THE BASS If you haven't experienced the top-notch sound and beautiful surroundings of Fort Worth's Bass Hall, this might be the week to do it. The venue is celebrating its 10th anniversary with several shows, including a free performance tonight by local country crooner Jack Ingram (right). Thing is, if you haven't already picked up tickets, you probably won't get in. So find some friends who have! 8 p.m. 525 Commerce St., Fort Worth. 877-212-4280.

2 FREAKY LIVES

Have you ever wondered what it was like to be the dog-faced woman, the pinhead or the human salamander? Playwright Carson Kreitzer has written Freakshow, a play that explores the lives and relationships of carnival performers. Bath House Cultural Center. 8 p.m. $20. 521 E. Lawther Drive. 214-893-3009.

3 FOREVER ETTA

You've heard her song "At Last" at every wedding you've ever attended. But that song doesn't accurately represent the greatness that is Etta James. Even at 70, she still puts everything into her live shows, singing soulful songs about heartbreak, anger and unrequited love. Go. You'll thank us later. Doors at 7 p.m. $40.50 to $95.50. House of Blues, 2200 N. Lamar St. Ticketmaster, 214-373-8000.

4 SMART LADY

Wherever your political loyalties lie, it's always a thrill to meet a first lady. Laura Bush has served as an exceptional role model for book lovers of all ages, founding the Texas Book Festival in 1995 and making literacy her No. 1 issue in the White House. The first lady will make an appearance in town today, and her daughter Jenna will join her to sign copies of her first book, Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope. Meet them at 7 p.m. at Borders Books and Music at Preston and Royal. Free. 214-363-1977.

5 DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

Last night we all enjoyed (cough) the hits of Neil Diamond being performed by the remaining American Idol contestants. But tonight should be even better, because the man himself will take the Idol stage. Also performing on the results show will be the lovely Natasha Bedingfield. 8 p.m. on Channel 4.
