Well, I'll be damned if we didn't show up this morning with a Gemini Disco Soul Party in hand. Yes, yes! Our once-weekly, now tri-annual music PodQast is back in full effect and available for download at QuickDFW.com.
We don't just crank up the motor for anyone. The big occasion is celebrating S1's new solo album Strange Fruit Project Presents: S1 Music Box.
We talk to our homie about how it all came together. We also get to serve delicious new slices from the album, including one of our favorite joints of the year – "Callin' Me," featuring Phonte from Little Brother.
But that ain't all the online haps from your peoples at Quick. As always, The Boogie Spot is blazing with thoughts on the Ron Ron-to-Houston deal and vintage YouTube footage from a not-so-world-renowned hip-hop talent scout.

AIN'T NO HALF-STEPPIN'?
Everyone at SS Headquarters was buzzin' about tomorrow night's vintage flavor at the Granada, with Big Daddy Kane, Little Brother and Strange Fruit Project. Kane is still scheduled to be there, but LB and SFP are no longer on the bill.
According to the Granada's site, Tum Tum, KE Squared and Big Tyme are now opening up for the Smooth Operator.
If you were all geeked up for some of that Little Brother/SFP flavor, you can still hit up Zubar Saturday night for S1's official listening party.
Other gigs worthy of your attention include the Brown Sugar party tonight at Minc. Also tonight, MySpace Music presents Bun B at Torch (5631 Sears St.). It's one of those free MySpace-RSVP-type shindigs, so call 214-418-1511 to make sure you can get in. Doors open at 10.
And varied members of the left coast's legendary Project Blowed will perform for free next Thursday at Muddy Waters, courtesy of Neva Dug Disco.
PARTING SHOT
Astronautalis has evolved into more of a magician than a rapper, but he's an unbelievable rapper, so you should dig some of his magic tricks. He has a new label and a new release set for Sept. 23. Myspace.com/astronautalis should be able to deliver all the pertinent details for the uninitiated.
