Sometimes we get all worked up over the perceived lack of respect we get down here from the major media outlets on either coast.

One of our recent entries on The Boogie Spot (on QuickDFW.com) had us flippin' out over a recent ESPN study that identified the eight hottest hoops prep areas over the last decade. The Dub wasn't on the list.
This, despite the fact that Chris Bosh (Lincoln) and Deron Williams (The Colony) are on the frickin' Olympic team. Meanwhile, the Apple is claiming Smush Parker and Sebastian Telfair.
So you can whine about it (like we did on our blog), or you can just blow it off and go on about your business.
In related news, Jazz guard and Skyline product C.J. Miles (above) had a pretty nice jam on YouTube called "Whip Game." Dude had flow. People in Utah tripped. It ain't on YouTube anymore.

GOOD SHOWS, GOOD PRODUCT
There's plenty to do this weekend and plenty of new music to hear. Here be the rundown.
The legendary Bay-area Hieroglyphics crew is live and direct tonight at the Granada. Doors open at 8 with Blue Scholars, Musab and Knobody on support. This is a real essence-of- hip-hop-type affair.
Down the block at Muddy Waters is the Lyrical Limelight, brought to you by Holden records and Neva Dug Disco. Playdough (above), Info-Red, Oasis and others will be on hand to spit. Free, free and free.
And speaking of NDD, check out crazy new product in the form of The Worst Day of Your Life from the Stick-Up Kids (Molek Ular, E-Wize and Wordlife). It comes with a nice CD mix, hosted by the late Freewill. The DVD is super choice: videos, interviews with such folks as 9th Wonder and Louis Logic and loads of freestyles. Don't miss a priceless clip of Big J and Frantic (R.I.P.) goofing on a DJ workout before Frantic hits the tables and puts it down. Pretty heavy stuff, and a definite grab for anyone interested in the Dallas hip-hop underground. Check for it at nevadugdisco.com.
Over at the Double Wide tomorrow, Chuck Sly hosts the Animal House Part 2 event headlined by the psychedelic blues-rock trip The Kul. We caught them several years back and thought they had plenty of potential. We're also feeling what we've heard off the MySpace page of Damaged Good$ (myspace.com/dmgeez). This event looks like good-time-party-fun, and $7 makes it happen.
PARTING SHOTS
Last week we teased the wrong Saturday for the Fourth Annual Hood Car Show presented by DJ Drop (left) and On-a-Mission Records. It's tomorrow – we promise – at 2216 2nd Ave., two blocks east of Fair Park. At least we got the Web site right. Same one as last week – myspace.com/hoodcarshow.
