Washington gets dose of Texas Rangers wackiness
 COURTNEY PERRY / DMN The Texas Rangers celebrate after Ramon Vazquez (center) hit a home run in the 10th inning to win Monday. Athletics whip Texas Rangers, 12-6
 BEN FREDMAN / DMN Texas Rangers catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia crouches after being called out slipping off of second base. For the first time in nearly two weeks, the Texas Rangers were sloppy in a 12-6 loss to Oakland. While the Rangers won the three-game series (their fifth consecutive series win), they saw their five-game winning streak end.

Texas Rangers' Washington deserves full season
 LOUIS DeLUCA / DMN After Saturday's 6-4 win over Oakland, Ron Washington is 93-107 as the Texas Rangers' manager. Texas Rangers president Nolan Ryan and general manager Jon Daniels say they hope speculation about manager Ron Washington's job status will cease. There is one easy way for Rangers management to take care of that, writes DMN columnist Tim Cowlishaw. Either – or both of them – could come out and say Washington has the job for the rest of 2008. Neither man has said that.

Bullpen leads Texas Rangers past Oakland, 6-4

But the one streak that really matters – the winning streak – remains intact for the Texas Rangers.  BEN FREDMAN / DMN The Texas Rangers have been winning games, but manager Ron Washington is still overcoming a deficit. Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington's job status has been in limbo since the Rangers lost 12 of 14 games and fell to 7-16 on April 24 after being swept at Detroit. But Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said the topic wouldn't be revisited until the All-Star break – at the earliest.

Texas Rangers back in AL cellar with 7-3 loss

Vazquez is common thread as Texas Rangers win 4th straight

On Saturday, the Rangers won their fourth consecutive game, beating Oakland, 6-3, to tie Seattle for third place in the AL West. Vazquez has started three of them.
