In Troy Aikman's final season, the Cowboys showed almost no life against a San Francisco team that had lost 14 of its previous 15 games. But the Cowboys still had their pride, if nothing else.
A brash, young Terrell Owens caught a 3-yard touchdown pass and then stood on the Cowboys' star logo in the end zone, held out his arms and looked through the hole in the roof. It was viewed as the ultimate slap in the face of the historic franchise.
After Emmitt Smith scored a 1-yard touchdown, he ran to midfield and slammed the ball down in front of the 49ers' bench. But Owens followed with another touchdown, and this time he ran to midfield. As Owens slammed the ball down, safety George Teague came flying in to smash Owens as a way of protecting the Cowboys' home turf.
