IRVING – Cornerback Orlando Scandrick became the first of the Dallas Cowboys' six draftees to come to terms on a contract, doing so less than a week before the team travels to Oxnard, Calif., for training camp.
Scandrick, a fifth-round pick, agreed Thursday to a four-year deal worth $1.89 million, including an $185,000 signing bonus.
He is scheduled to earn base salaries of $295,000, $385,000, $470,000 and $555,000.
Scandrick, who left after his junior year at Boise State, had an impressive showing at the Cowboys' rookie minicamp after the draft. He missed a few days of work with the veterans because of an eye infection.
In 39 games at Boise State, Scandrick had four interceptions and 142 tackles. He holds the school record with seven blocked kicks, including four last year.
